They coat and seal the hair to add shine and manageability without permanently restructuring the hair the way straightening or a relaxer does. Amino acid treatments are typically selected when a gentler smoothing option is appropriate.
Sulfate-free shampoo and gentle care extend the result. Because these treatments wash out gradually, there is no harsh regrowth line; they simply soften over time until reapplied.
Results typically last around three to five months for keratin and somewhat less for the gentlest amino acid options, depending on hair and home care, then wash out gradually.
